I’ll be arriving by cruise ship and wondering how far the port is from Halong city center.
Can I walk around or do I need a taxi?

For short distances like Bai Chay beach (left side), walking is fine. But if you want to visit places like the museum or local markets, you should take a taxi or join the city tour sold at the port

Yes, it’s generally safe and tourist friendly. Just be careful when crossing roads
