The weather this May seems really rainy and stormy lately.
I’m worried that going to Halong Bay won’t be as enjoyable because of the weather.
Are there any good alternatives if conditions aren’t ideal?

Yeah, this May has definitely been more unstable than usual. Lots of sudden rain and thunderstorms lately.
The good news is that it usually doesn’t rain all day nonstop. Most of the heavier rain tends to happen during the night or early morning.
If you want a backup option, Ninh Binh is probably the easiest alternative. Weather there is often more manageable even when Halong Bay is having rough conditions.
