I just saw some crazy traffic around Cat Ba and the cable car area.
I have a flight tomorrow from Cat Bi Airport and I’m getting a bit worried.
Is there any way to avoid the crowds or get to the airport more reliably?

To be honest, during a public holiday, avoiding crowds completely is almost impossible.
You’re traveling right at the end of a long break, which is when traffic peaks
The main bottlenecks are:
Cai Vieng ferry terminal
Cat Hai - Phu Long cable car station
Those areas can get heavily congested
A better (but more expensive) option is to arrange a private canoe or speedboat transfer through your hotel.
It can help you bypass the worst of the congestion
Definitely ask your hotel reception. They usually know the fastest workaround options in real time
