[Solved] Can I buy a wheelchair at Halong cruise port?

My husband recently had a fall on the cruise ship and now has difficulty walking.

We will arrive at Halong Bay soon and plan to go on a shore excursion. Does anyone know if wheelchairs are available for sale at the cruise port in Halong?

I’m not sure if we should try to buy one there

They don’t sell wheelchairs directly at Halong cruise port.

If you want to buy one yourself, you can take a taxi to one of the local hospitals. There are usually many medical supply vendors selling wheelchairs and other equipment right outside the hospital gates. Just ask the taxi driver and they will know where to take you.

Most of the sellers probably won’t speak English, so you may need to use Google Translate. Also remember to bring some VND cash with you.

A much easier option would be to ask the salesperson or travel agent you booked your tour with to buy one for you and bring it to the port.

That way you can use it during your shore excursion, bring it back to the cruise ship afterward, and continue using it for the rest of your trip until you return home.

I’m not aware of any shops selling wheelchairs directly inside the cruise terminal. Most visitors who need one usually arrange it in advance with their tour operator.

Your guide may also be able to help arrange one locally if you ask before arrival.

Asking tour operator for help is the best way

That’s very helpful. I’ll contact the tour operator in advance and see if they can arrange one. Thanks everyone for the advice!
