I’m traveling with my parents who are in their 70s. Are shore excursions in Halong suitable for elderly people?

Popular options include Halong Bay day cruise, overnight cruise (2D1N), Hanoi city tour, Yen Tu day trip, and Ninh Binh day trip

Halong Bay day cruise or even 2-day cruise is very suitable for elderly people.

They don’t have to join every activity. They can simply stay onboard, enjoy the scenery, have some drinks, relax in the outdoor jacuzzi, and take it easy.

Visiting caves or climbing islands like Sung Sot or Titov is optional but may not suitable to them.

Hanoi city tour is also a good choice if you keep it light.

You don’t need to visit too many attractions. Just walking around the Old Quarter, trying pho, seeing the train street, and strolling around Hoan Kiem Lake is already a nice experience.

Ninh Binh is beautiful but a bit far, around 3 hours each way.

Once there, the main activity is a boat ride where locals row you through the scenery for about 2 hours, which is quite relaxing.

Halong Bay and Hanoi are the most suitable options for elderly travelers.

Ninh Binh can still be done, but you should carefully consider their health and energy levels.

Yes, but you need to choose the right type of tour.

That’s very helpful, especially the part about not needing to join every activity. Thank you!

You will need to notice tour operator their heath conditions in advance just in case
