One of the most common concerns for travelers exploring a new city is finding a clean restroom. In Halong City, public toilets can be hard to find, but don't worry! Here is our "Expert Map" of reliable, clean, and mostly free restrooms.
1. Shopping Malls (The Best & Cleanest)
Malls are your best bet for high-standard, air-conditioned restrooms with plenty of toilet paper and soap. They are free to use.
- Vincom Plaza Ha Long: Located right in the city center (Hon Gai side). Very clean and modern.
Location: Clock Tower Area, Bach Dang - GO! Halong (Big C): Ideal if you are shopping for souvenirs or specialties.
Location: Cot 5, Hong Ha Ward
2. Large Coffee Chains & Fast Food
If you aren't near a mall, look for reputable brands. It’s polite to buy a small drink, but their restrooms are generally open to the public.
- Highlands Coffee: There are many branches around Bai Chay and Hon Gai. They always maintain a good standard of cleanliness.
- Lotte Mart / Jollibee: Located inside the GO! Mall or near major streets.
- Cong Caphe: A famous chain with a vintage vibe and reliable facilities.
Location: Sun World Area, Bai Chay
3. Gas Stations & Museums
- Quang Ninh Museum: If you are visiting the museum, use the facilities there. They are excellent and well-maintained.
- PVOil / Petrolimex Stations: Look for the large, modern gas stations. While basic, they are usually much cleaner than small local stops.
Local Expert’s Tip: Always carry a small pack of travel tissues and hand sanitizer in your day bag. While the spots above are reliable, some smaller local cafes might run out of supplies during busy hours.
