I’ll be docking in Halong Bay this November on Celebrity Solstice and planning to do a shore excursion.
What happens if it rains that day? Do tours still run, and is there anything I should be aware of?
Thanks in advance!
In Halong Bay, light rain usually doesn’t stop shore excursions.
Most tours (Halong, Hanoi, Ninh Binh) still operate as normal, just with slightly less ideal conditions
The main factor isn’t rain, it’s wind and safety conditions.
If there are strong winds (around level 5 or higher) or storm risks, local authorities may suspend boat operations
Even if Halong Bay activities are restricted, land-based tours like Hanoi or Ninh Binh usually still go ahead.
So you’ll still have options, just maybe not your first choice
Halong Bay can look quite different in the rain, with more mist and lower visibility. Some people actually like the atmosphere, but it’s not the classic clear sky view
Bring a lightweight raincoat or poncho. Umbrellas aren’t always practical, especially if you're moving around a lot or getting on/off boats
allow extra buffer time. Rain can slow traffic and logistics, so you don’t want to risk missing your ship departure
thanks for your big helps
