I have a Halong Bay cruise booked for May 1, and I’m thinking of staying overnight in Halong the day before. Any tips or things I should be aware of during this time?

Around May 1, Halong often hosts festivals and events, so the atmosphere can be quite vibrant.
Getting around (especially in the evening) can take longer than usual. I’d recommend giving yourself extra buffer time for everything transfers, checkin, getting to the harbor.
Don’t plan things too tightly

Around May 1, Halong hosts a big festival with parades, live performances, and even fireworks launched from boats on the water. It’s quite a unique experience and definitely worth seeing if you’re there the night before
